Good news! The 2025 IFLA Africa Student Design Competition is still open, and we’re inviting landscape architecture students from across the continent to take part. There's still time to submit your work and share your bold ideas for Africa’s future landscapes.
This year’s theme, “Reframing the African Landscape: Innovative Landscapes for Africa’s Future,” calls on students to rethink how we learn, teach, and practise landscape architecture in response to Africa’s evolving environmental, cultural, and social realities.
What We’re Looking For:
• Fresh, critical perspectives that challenge conventional approaches
• Design ideas that celebrate Africa’s diversity and respond to context
• Scalable, forward-thinking solutions at any scale—from regional visions to detailed designs
Choose your own project site, scale, and context. You may submit previous academic work.
Let’s continue to inspire the next generation of landscape architects to think boldly, innovate fearlessly, and design a more resilient, inclusive, and beautiful African landscape.
Deadline for submissions: July 15, 2025Submit your entry and be part of this exciting continental dialogue!
