Registration Open | Southern Urbanism Co-Net 2026

Registration is open for Southern Urbanism Co-Net 2026, an exciting international gathering taking place at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, from 16–26 August 2026.

Held under the theme “Negotiating Rural-Urban Futures,” the conference will bring together scholars, practitioners, policymakers, designers, students, and community leaders to explore the rapidly changing relationships between rural and urban spaces across the Global South. As cities continue to expand and rural areas transform, the event will provide a platform to discuss new approaches to planning, governance, infrastructure, climate resilience, heritage, and spatial justice.

The conference programme includes keynote lectures, paper presentations, panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions, and field visits, creating opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration. Participants will engage with pressing questions around urbanisation, environmental change, migration, informal settlements, and the future of cities and regions in Africa and beyond.

Hosted by the University of Lagos in partnership with an international network of institutions and researchers, Southern Urbanism Co-Net 2026 seeks to foster new knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and amplify perspectives from the Global South.
