We are delighted to share that the 62nd International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) World Congress will take place in Hong Kong, China, from 28–30 October 2026!
Under the theme “Liminal Landscapes: Shifting Boundaries of Watersheds and Coastlines,” this landmark event invites landscape architects and allied professionals from across Africa and around the world to explore how dynamic interfaces between land, water, and culture can shape resilient and adaptive futures. Hong Kong — located at the mouth of the Pearl River Delta — is a powerful setting for this conversation, where land and water meet in ways that have shaped its ecology, urban form, and cultural landscapes over centuries.
The Congress will examine how landscape architects are uniquely positioned to respond to global challenges — particularly climate change, biodiversity loss, and cross-boundary ecological planning. Through shared strategies, research, design innovation, and collaboration, we can expand our role in shaping sustainable landscapes that transcend administrative borders.
This global gathering promises inspiring keynote sessions, in-depth discussions, networking opportunities, and cross-cultural exchange — a space where ideas about ecosystem-based design, watershed planning, coastal resilience, and liminality in landscape architecture will come alive.
Stay tuned for the opening of registrations and call for proposals, and start planning to join colleagues from across Africa at this important moment for our profession. Let’s seize this opportunity to strengthen the African presence, share our insights, and engage with global discourse in one of the world’s most vibrant cities.
