IFLA Africa Honours Marike Franklin with the 2025 Service Appreciation Certificate

At the 2025 ILASA/IFLA Africa Conference in Pretoria, Marike Franklin was celebrated as the fifth recipient of the IFLA Africa Service Appreciation Certificate, an honour recognizing individuals whose work has profoundly advanced landscape architecture across the continent.

Marike’s leadership in developing the African Landscape Network (ALN) has been pivotal in promoting collaboration and knowledge-sharing among practitioners and educators. Since its inception in 2020, she has helped transform the ALN into a vibrant platform supporting the African Landscape Convention and showcasing African-led innovation in landscape stewardship.

Beyond ALN, her involvement in the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Cultural Landscapes and the IFLA Knowledge Hub has amplified Africa’s voice on the global stage.
